Director of Children's Ministries
Job Description (Part-time)
1. Purpose
The Director of Children's Ministries is a part time position, and shall be responsible for the oversight of children's programs, birth through sixth grade. The primary role will be to recruit, train, and develop leaders who will intentionally help to produce committed Disciples of Christ.
2. Accountability
A. The Director of Children's Ministries shall be directly accountable to the Senior Pastor.
B. The Director of Children's Ministries shall also be a team player, and will work in cooperation with other Pastoral staff and Ministry leaders within the church.
C. The Director of Children's Ministries shall receive a semi-annual review.
3. Responsibilities
A. Shall be responsible for recruiting, training and development of adult leaders, who have a passion for shepherding and discipling children (volunteer and paid staff). The Director of Children's Ministries will work to ensure that our risk management is in compliance and that background checks are completed on paid and volunteer staff.
B. Shall be the point-leader of the Children's Ministry Team, responsible to provide direction, spiritual oversight, vision, strategic development, and coaching for Ministry Team members, (preschool and children's committee, children's activity leaders, Sunday School teachers).
C. Shall be responsible to work with the Children's Ministry Team in the development of a unified strategic plan that includes the following key areas: clearly defined values, mission statement, leadership development, evangelism, disciple making, worship, systematic Bible teaching, personal accountability, and ongoing children's ministry evaluation.
D. Oversee the development and daily implementation of the Children's Ministry budget.
E. Provide 'hands-on' ministry modeling for adult leaders.
F. Have direct oversight for the following key areas of ministry: Children's and Preschool Sunday School, Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday evening activities (i.e. Bible drill, music, missions, fun packs), Summer Programs (VBS, camps, etc.), and Special Events (Harvest Party, Easter, Christmas) and others as developed.
G. Serve as a liaison with Pastoral Staff and Ministry leaders to ensure that children are integrated into all church ministries as much as possible.
H. Serve as the staff liaison and oversee the Mother's Day Out program, working with the Director and committee.
I. Be responsible for hiring, training and supervision of paid child care staff.
J. Participate fully as a member of the staff.
K. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
L. Be a model to children and families by: Having a regular personal prayer and Bible study time, attending church and Sunday School regularly and seeking to model his/her personal life on the life of Jesus Christ.
